LISA THROWER
Creative Concierge | Art Consultant
CYT-200
Yin, Yoga + Meditation Facilitator

Since 1999, I have lived in the metro-ATL area, working away as a museum administrator, project manager, professional assistant and art consultant. I have a degree in art history and a background in collections and archival management that allow me to understand over-arching visual themes and intuitively sort all things into “collections.” Because my passions and professional life have always intertwined, over the years I developed meaningful connections with a great variety of creatives; artists, designers, writers and foodies. These are the folks who inspire me on a daily basis.

I would definitely say that my core nature is collaborative, but after many years, I found that I was really working for others and not with others. That the purpose of my life was shifting and my own voice was the one to follow. During the “great shift” of 2020, I re-committed myself to a variety of self-inquiry practices while slowing down my professional hustle. In 2021, I completed 200+ hours of yoga and yin yoga teacher training programs. I got out of my head and into my body where I began to feel most at home. I began teaching yoga and recording meditations and other readings for my friends. Yoga practices such as breathwork, meditation and conscious movement have allowed me to clear many personal webs of distraction and focus on my inherent gifts - sharing inspiration through art, spoken word and ancient truths.

I post nearly every day on Instagram as “Poem Concierge.” I want to be known as someone who always has just the right thing to say to make someone feel a little better or at least not so alone.

Expressive Arts Group + Meditation Facilitator

My father is a psychiatrist, and I grew up in awe of his dedication and the positive impact he makes. I have always had a passion for psychology and mental health; but somewhere along the line, I heard that only crazy people or people with crazy families go into the field, and I definitely didn’t want people to think I was - or had - either! The funny part is, I now see my profession as having significantly less to do with identifying what is wrong with people and significantly more with helping people see what is right with them!

Lost, and completely unsure where I was headed, I graduated with a degree in English Language and Literature, then embarked on a career in sales and marketing. While this career path was financially lucrative and taught me to connect deeply with others, it was ultimately painfully unfulfilling, and I experienced a profound sense of purposelessness for many years.

This personal crisis led me to therapy, where I had an awakening. I felt safe and comfortable to finally meet - and truly be - myself. I began to release self-doubt and to focus my attention less on becoming the person I thought I was supposed to be and more on embracing the person that I already, truly am. In an instant, I realized not only that I am enough, but that everything I have ever wanted to do for others happened for me in a therapist’s office - and that this is my calling. Therapy - the art of supporting others on their journey towards healing, wholeness, and connection. The art of guiding people to tap into - and learn to trust - their own divine guidance and intuition. To help others live with intention, knowing that each and every one of us already is enough and already is worthy.
